OK, pretend I didn't mention "mup source". The question is then "can I
use system and user variables in vim" … specifically, can I include the
system date in the text in such away that it updates when I open the
file, and can I include the filename in the text.

I'd like to be able to include a couple of variables in my mup
source files, so that when they're compiled the output shows the
system date and the filename. What's the simplest way to
approach that?
Thanks in advance!
Are you sure you're on the right mailing list? This one is about how
to use the Vim editor, not about "mup source", whatever that may be.
Best regards,
Tony.

This visage meek and humble,
And hear this confidential plea
Voiced in reverent mumble:
Give me Shylock, give me Fagin
But O God spare me Ronald Reagan!
