I think the vimrc_example.vim should set an example, and as such it
cannot afford to be sloppy. Anything in it which doesn't work as
intended should be corrected, if possible: that's why I recommend to
implement it by sourcing it from the user's vimrc (so the most recent
version is always used) rather than by copying it (which "freezes" the
version used) then more or less misguidedly adding the user's settings
in the same file. (I know Bram disagrees about this source-vs.-copyedit
preference, and I don't completely fathom his reasons for it.)
