I didn't specifically clean out the registry keys, but it's worth
noting that the issue continued through a number of reinstalls of both
vim 7.3 and 7.2 . I assume that the configuration was mangled during
the install of 7.3, as this desktop had worked fine for several months
with vim 7.2 (iirc).
