Strange that it went directly to you, since it's a direct reply
to the message I posted on the topic. I would have expected it to
come only to me, or to the ML...but to only you? weird.
It looks like the issue has since been resolved for the OP, that
(like the "z" command in ed, discussed here on the list a few
months back), the ^U and ^D commands persist the
scrolled-window-size in the 'scroll' setting if you prepend a
count; and can be reset by
:set scroll=0
