Building Vim on HP-UX was pretty simple for me, but that could have
been because the required libraries and headers just happened to
have been already installed on the systems I was using. Early
versions of HP-UX used to be pretty complete, though.
You can install Vim anywhere you have permission to do so (such as
your $HOME directory) with the --prefix option to configure. To get
color to work on HP-UX, you may also have to add the
--with-tlib=curses option to configure.
