A yank normally moves the cursor to the start (leftmost character or
topmost line), not the end, of the text being yanked (see about one
paragraph below ":help blockwise-register").

I thought I had once seen how to yank text without moving the cursor but
I cannot find it back -- maybe it was in a dream.
