Hmm, this is still not the way I imagined it. Right now I have a working
thing but it's not really error prone.
For example when you have combined extensions like foo.tar.gz or
something.

for i in split(globpath('~/.vim', '*.skel'), '\n')
let extension = split(split(i, "/")[-1], "\\V.")[0]
execute join(["au BufNewFile *.", extension, " 0r ~/.vim/", extension, ".skel"], "")
endfor
