When you use "set nohidden", :next and :prev really load files from
disk, so that the BufReadPost condition is met in the autocmd of
your .vimrc.
With "set hidden", it is no longer the case and the cursor column is
no longer remembered.
(the advantage of "set hidden" is that you can switch without saving)
If you suppress the BufReadPost autocmd, it is the same. For example
with
gvim -u NONE file1 file2
:next, :prev do not keep cursor column.
