scrolling slowness with long lines and syntax highlighting.

(With ver 7.3) I notice severe slowness in scrolling with the
combinaion of syntax highlighting and long lines - around 130 chars.

The syntax highlighting rules are my own, could they be causing
this overloading and resulting slowness.
